Diggin' Into Organization

I am happy to be linking up for a summer long series of things we are "DIGGIN' INTO" for next year!  Here are the calendars showing our schedule for the summer.  So make sure to stay tuned!

ORGANIZATION!!
This week's topic is ORGANIZATION.  Who doesn't love to be organized!?  And, I always find that at this time of year, I wish I had spent some more time organizing myself last summer or at the beginning of the year!  It is a great time of the year to reflect on what is working and what is NOT!  Since I am no longer in the classroom, I wanted to share an idea I came up with a couple of years ago.

I needed to change the way I track which standards have been taught and assessed.  I usually know which units have been taught, but not specifically the standards.  I also wanted to make sure I was showing which standards were being taught, as I think it is important for the kids to know what they should be learning and why.  So, I created these to be put up in my classroom.  I can have a set of standards in clear sheet protectors and use rings to join them together.  That way I only have to flip to the one I am teaching that day and hang it up on my board.

I can also use the checklists to track when I am teaching and when I am assessing the skills.

I have them broken down for each standard so I can keep them in my teacher binder and track as I teach.

Do you want to keep all of your Common Core standards organized too?  Check out some of my products that can help you do just that!  I have different designs and different grade levels, for both ELA and Math.  (If you don't see exactly what you are looking for, I can customize them for you as well!).  For 3rd grade, I have the "I Can" statements available in Spanish as well.
